OLR 5K

I ran a 5K today! My first in many years. It felt good, but it was haaard. I'm pretty beat right now, I'm not gonna lie.

None of the photos were taken by me; my husband Richard was the guest photographer on this one. He also has video of me crossing the finish line (instead of a still photo) so we'll have to figure out how to upload that somehow. :)








Me and my running buddy, Cheryl. She is running an AIDS marathon in October! Go support her!

My time was 38:01, #356. Not bad; I just wanted to finish under 40 minutes, and I did!

Where in the World is Matt?

Note: I don't know this person, and this has nothing to do with my photography. But I think this idea, and this video, is so wonderful I wanted to share it all my blog readers.

This is Matt. He is a very bad dancer. Somehow he convinced a company to send him around the world and do his bad dance. People joined in and danced with him, from India to Ireland to Istanbul to Illinois. I defy you to watch it and not want to go outdoors and throw your elbows around in joy.

The dead overlook a dying town



I like these shots because the light in the sky makes it feel peaceful and melancholy.

My husband recently went on a trip with his family to Michigan and Pennsylvania, and inspired by my passion for photography, decided to take a camera with him. He hadn't used one in a long time, but I was pretty impressed with what he found!



This was taken in Stony Creek State Park in Michigan, in a random unmarked clearing. I love the light in the trees behind, and the perfect framing of the bench. You get a great sense of how tall the trees are, and how quiet it must have been.




This was on a priest's gravestone, in the Pennsylvania cemetery of the church where he served for forty years. I loved the intricacy of the detail; the priest was someone they obviously respected, but the shared love of the church comes through even more.




The house's decorations are split completely in half, right down to the different shades of yellow paint and even the different walls along the sidewalk. Impressive!
