More Air & Water Show photos

I took over a thousand shots at the Air & Water Show, so you know I had to see if there were more worth sharing. These aren't quite as dramatic as the others, but they tell a story too.





I had to over-darken the colors so the smoke trails could be seen. The planes really were that close together as they twisted upward -- the crowd was gasping as they flew up.

Chicago Air & Water Show

I know, it's been a while since I posted. I've been in a slump; everything I've shot has either been overexposed, blurry, or just boring. But I think today's trip to the Chicago Air & Water Show had gotten me out of the slump.





Then we had the brilliant idea to go to the top of the John Hancock building to watch more. The views were stunning.





I heart Chicago, too.

Chihuly in the Koi Pond

A couple of years ago, Garfield Park Conservatory had a huge Chihuly exhibit, which is a collection of blown glass pieces created by the artist Dale Chihuly. They recently installed just a few pieces in the koi pond this winter.





The koi seemed to enjoy it a lot; they were swimming all around them!

Crown Fountain

Today's series continues with more from Millenium Park, this time in the Crown Fountain area. I'd only ever seen it in the winter, and all I saw were the moving faces. I didn't even realize in the summer there's water that streams out of it. But I guarantee it's like no "fountain" you've ever seen -- people are encouraged to play with it, and believe me, they do.





This is why I would make a terrible kid now; it would never occur to me to swim on ashpalt!



It sure beats playing in a fire hydrant, though!

The water is on a synced program, and after a while, it stops pouring down from the top of the fountains (there are two, on each side of the area). All the kids take their positions as they get ready for what comes next.

By Request: Comstock Bridge

This is the Comstock Bridge over the Salmon River in Connecticut. It was drizzling and gray when I went to go shoot these, and I'm not entirely pleased with how they came out. But the river is about fifteen minutes from my parents' home, so I'll try to go back on a better day my next trip. There are usually a lot of fly fisherman hip-deep in the water under the bridge, but not that day.

My Dad requested seeing these shots, so here you go! I got an interior one, too, so you can get a good idea of the color.

It was such a pretty day out today!

Connecticut River Bridge

A couple extra views of the bridge I shot in Middletown, Connecticut, last December. Something about the dreariness of the steel in front of the changing sky reminds me of the cloudy skies we have outside today.
